k20a3 is the motor found in ep3's. you're right, they have a different cam profile, and vtec engages around 2k and disengages around 5. however, you can buy aftermarket cams and make substantial power increases. basically what the stock cams do in this motor is stagger the way the air is brought into the engine making a swirling pattern that, i guess, helps fuel economy.

k20a2 is the motor is the motor found in an rsx-s, that has "real" :p vtec, but im almost positive that its the same as the k20a.

if you have the money, do it. but if not, stick to a b. k series motors are wicked expensive (most of the time) and you need a lot of stuff to make them work.

i have a super charged teg, that bored .30 over, which is sopmewhere around 2L, and a built head, cooled with water methanol, and i culdnt be happier. the thing rips. i've walked a srt-4's

the closest thing to a k20a is a k20z1. the a2 is the lesser of the 3 but more abundant and has "real" VTEC. he is just suggesting a new age CR-VTEC. 2.4L block with a real VTEC head. K24 blocks aren't that expensive, its the good VTEC K head that consists of most of the price. a2 heads can be had for a decent price.....for now, until they get more rare

aahhh... idk. the k20a3 are cheap around here (CT), as well as the k24s. my friend dave picked up an a3 for 1400 bucks. a k24 complete motor (- the ecu, tranny, ect) will run about $1000. The cheapest i've found a complete k20a2 motor was for $3250, complete.

thats what makes the k24 block with a k20a2 head so appealing. the blocks can be had for cheap and the a2 head is easy to put on. K24a2 w/ hondata
