it wasnt the street racing that killed the people, it was a drunk in a caprice doing 100mph with his lights off that hit people watching street racing.
Where'd ya read that? I didn't see that in the article.
yeah...it was nto the street racing. it was a dumbass who happened to be driving on the wrong strech of road at the wrong time...and the people were stupid for going in the middle of a highway anyway...
How was it the fault of the "dumbass" who was "driving on the wrong stretch of road, at the wrong time?" lol That's silly to say something like that. Highways are for cars, not a show. We all know that.
You don't think street racing played
any role in this at all? IMO, if there hadn't been people roaming on a HIGHWAY (which I think is freakin' dumb as hell in the first place, isolated or not) in the
dark, maybe that car would have just flown off the embankment because he might not have been paying attention to the road. Granted that driver should
definitely have been more cautious and had his lights on, but when I'm driving down a highway, I don't automatically assume, "Well shit, I better slow down. Never know when a group of 50 people or so are gonna be in the road!" Know what I mean? You can't be prepared for something like that.
What's the point in pointing fingers and playing he-said she-said when we weren't even there? Unless one of you were at the scene personally, I don't think you can be sure what the conditions were like and who's really to blame in the end. Be fair and open-minded.
It's easy for people to get upset when they hear stories like this based on the stereotypes and everything the media puts out there about hobbyists, cars, and racing, but you can't always let little things like that get to you. There are
always going to be people who'll automatically blame the car enthusiasts. At the same time, the enthusiasts might
always blame the person who just happened to be there when something was going on. It goes both ways.
Was the situation unfortunate? Yes. It was a fucking tragedy. In the end, does it really matter whose fault it is to you all that much? I'm just saying that it's hard to decide who was right and wrong in a situation like this. It's VERY unfortunate. It was probably preventable, too.
My heart goes out to the families.
