stock headlight bring the suck.....

cptstoney

im just a newb be nice :)
so the stock headlights on my teggy suck SO BAD! they have been fitz'd before I bought it and they are still super cloudy and suck at night.

I want to put hid's in but I don't want it to look ricey.

can I put hids in the stock housings without throwing light all over the road? and will they still have a nice cutoff?

if I can't use the stock housing are there any non halo hid setups out there? not a fan of halo's on anything but a bmw or any car that came with em from the factory.

and lastly what is the whitest temp? 4,500k or 5000k the least amount of blue the better.

First, if the lens is cloudy then throwing a ton more light through it wont fix that.
Stock projector housings generally suck with HID bulbs. They call them glare kits for a reason.
Look into HID projector retro kits.

Do a projector retrofit. I have TSX projectors with 4300k bulbs in my 98-01 headlights and they light up beautifully. I suggest you take apart your housings as well and clean out the cloudiness by wetsanding them, and then clearcoating them and then resealing the housings so water doesn't get inside. Otherwise you could always look for OEM headlight assemblies with projectors already retrofitted.

4300k HIDs are what you are looking for if you don't want any hint of blue. I had 8000k, 6000k and finally went to 4300k for the OEM pure white HID look. They look slightly yellow on the road but looking at the car you only see pure white.

Look in our How-To section, there's an article on polishing headlights to look good as new. If you're lazy, throw some rubbing compound on them and buff them to a much clearer plastic.

look up my diy retro fit

even if you polish them up and use a plug in play for a "hid" look they still wont preform all that much more.
doing a retrofit will really shine your way a whole lot better.

it isnt the easiest of upgrades to do but it isnt that challenging either. it is a bit costly but better to piece together to do your own and do it unless you lack the time or confidence to do it. i have just sold the retro fitted headlights in my teg else id offer to sell them
