still can't align my ride

So last week I tried to get my integra aligned and the guy told me the tie rods were bad. I found a complete steering rack at junkyard off a 93 teg. So after installing the new rack, I notice that my tie rod ends are almost all the way to the inner end of the threads and my tires are pointing inwards at the front. I figured that could be adjusted when they aligned it but I was wrong. The guy is telling me that my inner tie rods are too short. Are there differences between the 90 and 93 racks?

What was wrong with the old rack other than tie rods. All you have to do is get a inner tie rod tool from napa or somewhere take off your outer and wrench off the inner. The tool general takes a 1/2 drive ratchet.

What made you replace the old rack.

If your TieRods were bad, all you had to replace we're tie rods.

Inner tie rods?

there have been other problems with the suspension and steering so i figured replace the whole rack, I still have the old one so I may just swap out the bad tie rods with some new ones. has any one ever seen these racks with shorter tie rods though?

No their are no shorter tie rods.

As long are your outer tie rods are all that wrong with the old rack and no inners just swap it back and replace your outers. Adjust them so they are close enough to center and make sure your steering wheel is center before doing this and take it and get aligned.

Well, it looks like I'm gonna have to put the car back up on stands and compare the tie rods from both just to be sure. Good news is I can get replacements here for $40 each if it is the inners. I should have checked this before putting the other rack in. Thanks for the help.

OK, so I compered the old inner tie rods from the first rack to the rods on the second and the new rods I just bought. It turns out that the driver side rod from the first is an inch shorter than the others. I have a feeling that the previous owner took this off of a different car so they can drive the car since it has been lowered. Anyone know if civic used shorter inners?
