stick-shift to wobbly?

for the life of me i cant figure out why the shifter is so wobbly...it feels so spongey, and while in gear, it still wobbles around.. isnt it supposed to feel as though its locked into a certain position?

is there a common problem with the stick shift "channels" ....the pattern the shifter moves in?

x2. i had the same problem. also getting a different shiftknob such as skunk2 should help your throw.

def. new bushings for the shift linkage.. after changing mine i noticed a big difference.. that and tighten the shifter bolt

ours is a little different than the rest of the generations. i think to get your short shifter in ours we have to shave the ball.... but dont quote me on that, it's been a while since i looked into it, and i wont be puttin one in mine till i move. as far as bushings tho, that will help a lot, the shifter in these feels like mud. if you cant find energy suspension bushings anywhere for this model teg, look for them for an 84-87 crx. almost all the bushings on that car is the same as 86-89 tegs.
