Steering wheel

I want to get a new steering wheel for christmas because my wheel is really beat up. Its pretty sad. I was planning on getting an NRG steering wheel, mainly because they are significantly less expensive than momo/sparco etc. and look good imo. Im not sure if I want to get a quickrelease right away, though I probably will. Do I need the hub adapter? Or will this wheel just bolt on to the stock location? I am under the impression that I need the hub, but want to get an opinion first, before I go out spending all my money ;)

you need a hub adapter. thats the part that attaches to the steering column and depending on the steering wheel you get, it'll have a certain bolt pattern that will match up with the aftermarket steering wheel.

you stock steering wheel is held in by a 19mm bolt. and aftermarket steering wheels generally have 6 small bolts.

if you get an nrg hub it will fit an nrg/nardi/personal

you'll need a hub. i have a sparco in my car and the 19mm bolt that the guy above me was talking about is used to bolt the hub to the steering column. then the six allen screws bolt the wheel up to the hub. well, thats how mine is. i say get a quick release. this may sound corny and may be a small hassle but whenever i'd park my car at my house (if i had a quick release) i'd remove the wheel. i'd rather take all the annoying precautions to protect my car than have lowlife thieves take it.

since we're on the subject of steering wheels, is it illegal to not have a driver side air bag? would it pass a state inspection? ( I know it may from state by state)

i doubt someone would pass you if your SRS light is on.

So removing the stock steering wheel+airbag will turn the light on? And there wont be a way of turning it off w/o removing the bulb? Is there any way around this, to make it passable for inspection?
