Starting problem

I have just replaced my timing belt and water pump (and all the belts) and find that my car will not start. I checked to make sure the cam sprockets are properly aligned as I was afraid that the timing belt had slipped, but everything looks good. The engine turns over, but just won't catch (although it gets close and seems to barely run for a moment). I have looked over the entire engine and don't see anything wrong, or disconnected. What could be the problem?

i had the same issue, but it was with my distributor (yeah, not really the same thing..). I thought and swore to god everything was correct. Turns out, someone in the family swapped the firing order for the spark plug wires. My car would turn but would never catch.

Solved my own problem (finally). It turns out that the front of the timing belt must be real tight prior to making any adjustments on the tensioner bolt otherwise everything is just a bit off. Now I have to wait and see about valve damage, but all indications at this point are good.
