Starting Issue in my 90' DA9 RS.

Hello Club Integra, I've got a problem with my DA9. This just started happening around 3 days ago. Sometimes, when I go to start my car (doesn't matter if it's a cold or hot start), when I turn my ignition to start position, I hear a clicking noise from under the hood and it doesn't turn over. (Not the fuel pump priming.) I have to play with it and find a "sweet spot" in the ignition and it sometimes catches on and starts. What could this possibly be?

Another Issue I have is sometimes when I'm starting my car and if I let off the ignition too soon and it doesn't start, the second attempt, it doesn't turn over. Instead, it makes this really high pitched screeching noise. The only way I can explain the sound is a dremel tool at around 15000rpm.

Other than that, when the starter does catch on, it has no trouble starting the car. It just seems like something isn't connecting or touching.

What could this possibly be? Starter relay, starter solenoid, or starter motor?

Looking for my next Teg..
sounds like 2 separate things you are dealing with..

first off from what you describe, it sounds like your ignition switch is bad or had corroded contacts. first replace that as it is a common issue with 20 year old cars.

2nd issue is you may have a starter that is developing issues based on the sounds you describe...

I would first fix issue 1 as it cost maybe 30-50 bucks for an ignition switch... once you cage that out see if you still have an issue with the starter making noises. if it does then replace it as well..
