Starting and Idle issues

recently my 1990 integra rs has developed a starting problem when it is hot out, it just cranks and cranks and doesnt start(it will start occasionally but is completely random)

and im not sure if it is related but the idle also likes to hunt(anywhere between 1000-1400 rpms)

now i have read a couple threads and the starting issue may be from the fuel pump(can you access this from under the seat or do i need to drop the gas tank?)

another theory from a few other threads is the main fuel relay or the ignition control module?

so what does everyone think?

thanks for any help! this car has been great to me and done 415000kms and should be good for more!

From the bay to LV
check the mfr it's under the steering colum, it's gonna be a rectangular looking thing, on the left hand side. give it a couple of flicks( don't bash it) if you flick it and it starts up, then more than likely its the main fuel relay. I just changed mine 2 months ago. it's an easy fix and you won't have to wait 15 minutes for your car to cool down so you can start it up.

Definitely the MFR. I had the same problem with my '93 DB2.

As for the hunting idle it could be related to the fuel pump but I've never personally heard of it. Good luck.

Dorrado: My car is doing the same thing. I replaced the Main Relay less than a year ago. I recently replaced the fuel injectors, fuel pump (under the hood) and the spark plugs. I am wondering if the starting problem is related to the starter, or the fuel pump that sits on the gas tank? Have you replaced your starter? My car is a 1990 Integra LS with the original starter. I'm wondering it this is my problem?
