SPL Stereo Comp.

Alright I use to be into SPL Stereo Comp. back in the day with my old Mazda and Civic. We'll I miss it and I'm looking to get back into it and start bringing in more trophies. Of course I won't be doing this in my DA because the cars being built for track and a huge ass box of course is going to weigh it down. So I plan on coming back into the SPL field with my 08' tC. But the question is what sub to start competing with. I did everything from some cheap of brand sub hitting 142db to JL w6s to Kicker Squares. I'm looking to do only one 12" sub. I'm looking for eveyones opinion on what to run. I was thinking about getting this http://www.cerwin-vega.com/strokerpro12.php.

Cerwin-vega is a good speaker manufacture they make all kinda of high end P.A systems.

I was also thinking about getting a DD sub I heard they were another good brand for SPL.

if you want to mathematically compare some subs, go to mtx's website. they have a volume displacement calculator that will help you decide. what is your budget and what amp do you plan to run?

if you are looking for a single 12, take a look at a mtx 9500. its offered in dual 2ohm voice coil and dual 4ohm voice coil. its extremely loud and can take just about any abuse you can throw at it. another really loud sub is the kicker solo-x, but it has a big price tag. orion subs are pretty badass as well, but also pricey

i have a single 12" L7 running off of a 750.1 kicker amp. it is in a 4 cube slot port box tuned to 35 hz. it gets loud, but no sq. i never turn it past half gain/boost as i have killed too many alternators. i have 2 friends with the solo-x but i have not heard them yet. i think one of them has a 15 and one has a 12. a guy i go to school with worked for a high end audo shop and they held the record for the loudest system. i dont know the exact dB level, but i do know they used over 200 kinetik batteries and all pioneer equipment.

the jl 12 w7 is hands down the winner in sound quality and dbs, get the h.o. box and 1000.1 amp... its ungodly
um no. there is nothing wrong with a w7, but there are quite a few subs louder and have a better sq. this is what i dont like about spl meters being so expensive. every single person thinks what they have is the loudest and "ungodly". just like a bunch of ricers talking about how fast their na stock cars are. its fucking lame. you can go to the track and see how slow your car really is for 20 bucks. hardly anyone gets their system's tested for spl. and even then, so many meters will read different numbers. look at these tests:

the w7 blew rather quickly if you ask me, about 2 songs.

A friend of mine runs Kickers all around. He has 2 12" that almost shook his spoiler off!! I believe that if you do get a system and actually plan on using it for "listening", you should get the same brand all around. These parts are made to interact with each other.

haha yea... but u gotta admit that those subs are awesome
yeah but not for the price. they are about 650 dollars more per sub than an mtx 9500; but only 1.2db louder due to increased volume displacement. you could literally get another 9500 for the price of one solo x and be well over 2x as loud; literally. about 4.7db
