Speedometer quit working.

Quick Note, I have searched the hell out of this forum since 5 o clock this morning, the answers to other peoples threads on this note didnt cover what I need help with..


Two things I dont know:
Where does the speedometer cable run to from the cluster? I cant check what I cant find
the odometer and tripometer have stopped as well.

All other gauges work (Temp, Tach, Gas)

I have checked to see if the speedometer is connected to my cluster, and it is,all the wiring connections going to the speedometer are connected.

It just suddenly quit working last night. I park, jerked the car by not letting the engine wind down, come out of walmart, and drove off in it and the speedometer just wasnt working

When it jerked the car probably shook enough to knock the wires loose. They were most likely already loose and it jerking finally did it.

Have to tried simply pulling the cluster out and making sure all the bundles of wire are plugged in completely? Lol. Thats where I would start. Even just unplugging everything and plugging them back in.

If they still dont work, bring it to a mechanic because I can already tell your not comfortable enough with wiring and you dont want to mess it up more then what it is

I took out the cluster, looked at it, jacked the car up and put it on jackstands, Tracked the cable all the way down to the transmission, the wire in the transmission is good, ill replace the cable if i have to

Im pretty sure the speedo isnt fully mechanical thats why I said to to check the wires. I could be wrong but I believe in our cars they are both electrical and mechanical speedometers
