Hi Everyone. I'm new to this site, and Integra's in general. I've done some research and understand the main parts. I'm going to be getting a Integra very soon, within 2 weeks! The price range is a bit low though, (about 4k-5k). Now here is the questions. Integra Ls or Integra GSR? what's the big difference? besides the price range. Also, if someone could describe the different engines, like (b16a, b18...so on) i don't really understand all the performance issues pertaining to the engine. Also, should i look for a integra with Vtec? Or should i buy the car and throw on a turbo? Which is a bigger upgrade? Or Vtec & Turbo? i heard bad things about Vtec & turbo though. Also, are headers worth it? What about cold air intakes? If somebody would respond back, i would greatly appreciate it. With this being my first car, i would really like to be informed and make sure i know what I'm getting.

well there is a lot of differences between the gsr and ls. The gsr is much faster, I have one myself and I love it. Here are all the specs-http://www.clubintegra.com/index.php?pageid=g3integraspecs. In my opinion the gsr is a much more fun car to drive, but it might be hard to find one for 5k. As far as motors, such a b16, that Just means its a 1.6l, b18 is 1.8l and so on,and the different letters at the end distinguish each separate engine. Most likely you will want vtec, a SOCH non-vtec is not a very good platform to start a build with. All ls integras are non-vtec so if you want vtec either a gsr, motor swap, or ls/vtec(ls block with gsr head) are your options. As far as running a turbo setup with vtec, there is nothing wrong with that at all, thats what most everybody does. And regarding an intake and header, you have to make the decision whether you want to go turbo or n/a. If your going turbo there is no point in purchasing those parts. Intake and headers provide moderate gains but dont expect 10000hp, maybe 10-15hp, depending on the setup. Turbo wouuld produce large hp gains, but you have to be willing to spend around 2-3k at minimum. Hope this helps, and welcome to the site :)

Alright well thanks everyone, i understand the b16 and all that now, i was so confused at first. :p
Well i guess i'm going to look for a GSR, or like you said, a LS with a swapped vtec engine in it.
It's all a lot to look at and to learn, specially for my first car ( turn 16 on March 16th, take my drive test this wednesday!!) but i'm going to make all the effort and really look into everything. Still gotta lot to learn though.
I'll post pics and all that when i get the car, thanks everyone.

First care are almost always learning curves. You will need to do research on the upgrades you plan on doing after you get the car so you know what youre getting into. Dont just jump on somehting and buy it, there may be consequences for doing so, such as getting a CAI and a new header when you plan on boosting (turbo). LS<GSR<Turbo LS<Turbo GSR

The members on the site have lots of information to share, so if you ever have a question feel free to ask. If its very general and has been asked many times, dont get offended if some one tells you to search. Everyone likes a new member who puts some effort into researching before throwing a new thread up ;)

Welcome to the ClubIntegra!

if you care about the cars body... walk around with a magnet, if it doesn't stick... there's body work done to the car :p also try to get the car close to stock/OEM as possible. something that hasn't been raped and abused.

if you are 16 just getting your license and a car not to question your skills but some people cant handle supped up cars especially when they are just starting out hints the reason y people under 25 have such high insurance rates.....But im not one to down anyone so if you are confident in your skills i would go with the vtek i have an Ls and wish i would have shopped around a little more for the Gsr. anyway just make sure you do the research and don't settle for just anything

yup. what he said. LS is what i have and its an amazing base, some say that the LS motor isnt a good motor but there is just so much potential when using the motor. you can do ls vtec, turbo, a true VTEC killer motor. I love the LS for its versatility and say what you want everyone else, but the fact of the matter is IMHO the LS is a better motor than the GSR for the simple reason that you can do so much more than you can with a b18c. of course the b18c is faster but with the right tune anything can be possible. as you can see i love my ls and will be sad when i part with my motor in the comming months
