Smog/seafoam questions

Hey yall so i failed CA Smog few days ago in all 3 emission tests at 15MPH HC: Max 89 Me: 110 CO Max: 0.37 Me:0.66 NO: Max 495 Me:1377 (god damn) and at 25 MPH HC: Max 54 Me:65 CO Max:0.36 Me: 0.33 NO: Max 746 Me:739 (just made it) so pretty much tellin me my CAT's fucked and need a tune up. so i throw new cat on (not quite street legal) but luckly the guy is just gonna do emission test when i go back and wont do visual inspection since i allready passed that part (not like he did visual the first time anyways) after CAT i filled gas to bout half way poured 1/3 bottle seafoam in tank. 1/3 bottle into pcv hose and a third into crank case. after the whole seafoam routine and car stop smoking out the city. i took it for a drive to San francisco (bout hour trip there and back) changed air filter, cap, rotor, new spark plugs and wires, oil change and just for fun new pcv valve. now my question is before i go retest for smog should i run my tank empty of the seafoam and refill her or will it be ok to smog with sea foam in gas tank? thanks

Really old thread but I'll still ask here before posting a new thread. Noob question, I got a '90 integra with B18A1 1.8L engine and want to seafoam the engine for the first time. I see a lot of people putting it through the brake booster line on a lot of other cars but I want to make sure that the brake booster line feeds all 4 cylinders in my car evenly. Does anyone know for sure?

I did this on my legend, but I never put any in a vacuum line. I put half a bottle in with the oil and the other half in a half tank of gas. Drove about 500 miles and then changed the oil.

Seems like it made the engine run smoother. The only reason I didn't put it in the vac is because legends tend to build up and Block the one line, but still run fine. A few legend owners did it without a problem, our concern was we didn't want to break that stuff and have it go into the motor. You don't have to worry about that.

Ok. First of all, DO NOT ever put any additive through the brake booster ever. You can cause some serious issues with your braking system, plus there are plenty of vacuum lines on the motor that you can feed it through. And just because you've seen a lot of other people do it, doesn't mean they're right.

As far as adding it to the oil goes OldSkool, you're better off not driving on oil with Seafoam in it IMO but rather let the car idle with the Seafomed oil in the system for 20 minutes, then do an oil change. You're right about adding some in the gas tank though. Works well for cleaning the top end and cylinders.

Yea i heard both idle and drive a few hundred miles (all kinds of forms), I know I didn't want to go over 500, I think originally I was going to change at 300 miles but I ended not having the time. When it hit 500 miles I dropped everything and changed the oil.

I agree letting it idle, but I would also say go for a spirited short drive also.

Personally I wouldn't do it to other vehicles , I just did it to the legend to give the 3.2 a cleaning (that will make sense to fellow legend owners lol)

When it comes down to it, it doesnt matter how you get it into the system as long as it does cause its just pure petrol(gas). I put half in the gas tank and half in a vac line while its idling. I rev it up over and over till I notice the smoke is really dying down, then I take it for a quick normal drive

Biggest mistake people make is after they use it, they dont change their oil.. Really as long as you do your oil youll be fine. Might actually help your emissions some
