Skunk2 shifter issues

I installed my Skunk 2 short shifter tonight after work.
Background info:
I have a S2 dual bend shift lever and ES shifter bushings. A 60mm exhaust. Also, the pipe directly below the shifter is wrapped in "header wrap" due to the lack of the heat shield above it(had an issue with it and had to cut half of it off, so the header wrap keeps the temps contained).
The counter balance piece on the bottom bar of the linkage was hitting the exhaust to the point of hindering shifting, so I took a grinder to it. The shift is fine without it.
The current issue I'm having is that as the engine causes the exhaust to move, it hits the bottom of the shift lever. It causes an annoying vibration in the shifter and it sounds like a tattoo gun going.

I don't have the springs between the header and the test pipe right now. I think that the lack of motion at the flange of the exhaust might be contributing to the exhaust hitting the shifter.
I thought of exhaust hangers that would bring it a little farther away from the body, but that won't work due to how low the car is.
Does anyone have any ideas to remedy this issue?

I tried some exhaust hangers that are a little longer than the ones that were on the hangers right past the shifter. It didn't help.
I'm at a loss. I don't understand how other people run short shifters and aftermarket exhausts and I'm the only one having a problem.

i had the same issue at first on my dc. i bent down my hangers on my exhaust.

unless the swapping of shifters actually hangs lower from the ball to the mounting point.


if your stock shifter didnt hit, this one shouldnt.

I haven't experieced this problem either. I'm going with Ricky, def try and lower your piping.

The S2 shifter is about 1/4" longer from the pivot ball that the stock shifter. That 1/4 inch is what's screwing me.
I'm going to try bending the hangers as well as trying another set of rubber hangers that will have more distance between the holes for the hangers to try and make some room for the shifter. If that doesn't work, my next step will be to make some new hangers.

long ass pry bay, try loosening the test piipe and pry down. ive bent the hell out of mine

Seems to have worked. I had to remove the heat shield, so I wrapped the remainder of the b pipe in heat wrap.
I also had to rig up a way to keep the exhaust pushed down because it could still hit if it bounced around. I ran a coat hanger across it and wrapped it around the hangers. It's a little ghetto but it'll do for now. Plus I ran out of daylight half way through the job.

This happens on alot of hondas.. Its better to put a short shifter in first and have the exhaust shop work around it

Well, If it comes to having and exhaust shop make me new hangers I will. I don't trust many shops to work on my car. The last time an exhaust shop touched my car a Comptech header was ruined...and I really like my Medallion Touring exhaust, and would prefer it to not be butchered.

that heat sheild dont hurt anything. mine is off and its not hot at all. i also had this problem as well. i turned my midpipe over and it sat low enough to not scrub. if that dont work just bend your hangers.
