shift trouble and brake lights

my da is a 93 and will not shift out of park. also my brake lightswill not light up wheni depress the brakes. all other lights function properly and i have checked all fuses and bulbs. could the 2 be connected? please help.

change out the shifter for the parking issue.

as for the lights, check the plugs behind the panels.

Look at the brake pedal. There's a pin switch on it, and the rubber pad it bumps into tends to fall apart or disappear. You can get one from just about any Honda / Acura at the junkyard.

i know some hondas have a spot that your key gos into by the shifter in case that ever happens. im not sure if yours has it are not i have a manual. but if it does just stick your key in there and pull it out of park then pull the key out and put it back in park that should be all you have to do.

If ur BRAKE light switch doesn't work neither will ur automatic shifter. It needs to know ur foot is on the brake, to shift. U can get away with sticking ur key in the slot (shifter lock) but ur brake light still won't work.
