Seized calipers!?

Hey ladies and gents.

My mechanic tells me that my 89 RS has seized calipers.

He also tells me that the part is no longer made, and just a single replacement will be over $1000 dollars.


What do you guys think about that? Bullshit? What?


I've done a bit of checking and found remanufactured calipers around the net. Would that be an unwise route to take?

You can buy rebuilt calipers from AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts at a very resonable price with a lifetime replacement warranty. I have rebuilt calipers on the rear of my 87 Teg, and they have been on there for at least three years with no problem. The calipers are very easy to replace yourself. The hardest part is bleeding the brake sytem, but still that can be done yourself. $1000 to replace a set of calipers is a bit too much...$500.00 is more reasonable...8)
