i've got one, and i didn't need any kit to hook it up in a basic way. if there is a kit i'd imagine it's a frequency amplifier. while this antenna looks a lot better, it doesn't pick up signal nearly as well as the stock antenna. it's just too short. there's an extra wire on it that looks like a power wire... with no motor assembly, it makes sense that the wire is there for signal strength amplification. i have power running to my trunk because i used to have amps back there. i'm going to investigate this because i'm sick of not being able to hear the radio through all the fuzz.
