Rust Spot$

I have a couple of these little 1/2 inch nicks, one on my rear passenger panel and one on passenger door which are starting to bubble the paint. I want to deal with them right away and my paint is otherwise in good condition but just wondering if anyone has any DIY tips to deal with this before I spend the $$$ to get the whole door and panel repainted professionally.

nothing from nowhere
fold up some sandpaper and sand it and then use the brush primer and then paint to slow it

sand the rust down and maybe two inches all around to ensure you've taken out all the rust even if it's not visible to the naked eye, take a wire brush to the metal, treat the bare metal, then use a self-etching primer and probably a high-build primer to protect it, even out the surface, and give the new paint something to adhere to.

invest $10, buy 800 grit sand paper and touch up paint, lightly sand that area to get the rust off and apply the touch up paint.
