Rev problem

I just bought the car and now I have this problem where I cant rev above 3k. This happened after I cleaned out the IACV. I did it normally I believe. I taken out the IACV from behind the intake and cleaned it with carb and a toothbrush. I did it because it was jerking at certain speeds. (It runs much smoother now other then the fact that I can't go higher than 3k). Since I was taking a look at the IACV I just quickly inspected the TPS to see what condition it was in. It was cracked and looked like it was glued together so I bought one to be on the safe side and installed it. Once I was done I started the car and noticed the RPMs creeping up and it won't rev above 3k. So I adjusted the TPS and it was no longer creeping up but the 3k limit was still there. So I thought I was just in "limp" mode. I tired resetting the ECM by taking out the back up fuse, taking off the battery cables, even touching the cables together. Nothing seems to get it back to normal. Then again everything in this car doesn't seem to be normal. I need some help!

Oh as for the 3k rev limit. Its always there... while stationary and in motion.

I'm not the first owner. As far as I know. This car doesn't have launch control.

It could b ur ecu man ... i replaced ma ecu works now.... jst hit the ecu wit a screwdriver r so nd if CEL turns off there ur problem

Borrow an ECU from someone who has an Integra like yours, see if it still stays below 3k. If not, you're ECU is the issue.
Is it throwing a code at all?

Yeah its throwing codes. Of course these are the things I'm going to be going after first. It's throwing up 6,7,14. ECT, TPS, and IACV. Even though i just changed the TPS; thats what the ECU is throwing up. I actually just reset it by just pulling out the wires and putting it back in after some time. (Stupid me should have thought of that earlier). So I'm going to use another one. Taking the part back calling it a defect and replacing it. Going to see what happens after that. As for the ECT. I'm just gonna get a new one. The codes and my temp gauge happen to tell me to do so... The IACV code is shown because its not even connected to anything other then the actual intake. Meaning the wires that go into the solenoid. And speaking of which... does anybody know what color those wires are and what does it connect to other than the solenoid? Everything in this car is either disconnected or some other place. I wish I knew what the "original" owner was trying to do.

If none of the above works I'll just replace the ECU because I don't have anyone around me to lend me their ECU at the moment.

The TPS and Map sensor both use the same 3 wire plug. Make sure you havent mixed them up. You need to plug the IAC wiring in. If the ECU doesnt get a signal from it, it will cause all kinds of problems. It sounds like you need to get everything wired up and see where you stand first.

This is getting ridiculous. I got the new TPS but the readings I'm getting from the wiring are off. With the throttle closed I should be getting 0.5 volts and open 4.8 volts (According to Haynes manual.) I'm getting something like 0.032 v (closed) and 2.134 (open). So I need to check the wiring. I didn't get started with the ECT yet. And as for the IACV... I can't even find the wires to that thing. The manual says its black/yellow and blue... I tried tracing the wires but I can't even find the pigtail that connects to the IACV.

So I was thinking... the ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature) directly affects the voltage signal from the ECT to the PCM. So would that also influence the readings on the TPS or is that just a different thing all by itself? Also for the IACV... since I know the wires are black/yellow and blue. Do you guys think it would be just as good if I just "split the wires" and attach it to a pigtail that connects to the IACV? Meaning I just find the wires cut the wires in half, get another wire and attach it to both sides. So it would look like a " T " split if you know what I mean. As I see in the diagram in the book it looks like some wires already do this but would it be safe to try it for the IACV. All kinds of options wanted!

Well its fixed now. It was actually just my TPS sensor wasn't adjusted correctly. This is because I had to move it a little bit beyond the oval shaped hole. (Cut a little bit off). I just wanted to say that just in case anyone else comes across this problem maybe it would help.
