Replacing stock system in 94 GSR. Need help?

I am basically gonna replace the speakers w/ stock 6.5's & a simple CD player/IPOD/etc head unit. I would like to reuse the stock door tweeters. Will this be possible w/ a new unit? Do I need a component system? I am not really looking to hook a amp and sub.

Thanks,

BTW, where can I get a Type R front bumper cover for a fair price? Where do you guys shop for parts?

1. Its super simple. yes you can use your tweeters with the new system, its not going to be a problem.

And I have no clue where to get a Type R bupmer cover, but if your talking about a Bra, Don't do it, ruins the paint, Looks like hell, etc.

And for starters, our buy/sale threads is a great place to start for parts for your car, if you want to buy from a dealer, every where from password jdm to your local auto store.

You can re-use all the stock speakers w/ a new head unit. You simply have to make a wiring conversion harness to plug the factory harness into the new head unit and everything will work perfectly.

As for putting in the new head unit, all you do is take out the center/floor console (2 screws at the bottom of it behind the front seats, 2 screws under the handbrake, 2 behind the ash tray, remove the shift knob and disconnect the cigarette lighter). Remove the two screws behind the original head unit and it should drop out -they are a bitch to get out but it must be done. Go up and under the back of the head unit. Then take the coin tray off the stocker and duct tape it to the new head unit (you can get a dash kit but I just taped it - nobody will see it anyway and it works fine). Connect the harness you made to the stock port and to the head unit. Connect the antenna. Make sure everything works and then reassemble the center console.

You have to convert your whole front fascia to use the Type R bumper cover. Password JDM sells JDM front end conversions for a good price usually. There are good site sponsors and online shops. Statracing.com is a pretty good one; also AE Motoring - both are sponsors. Also try to find friends with hook ups and troll forum classifieds/Craigslist for deals.

Thanks guys for the info. My Crutchfield order should be here on Wednesday!

Thanks as well for the Type R front bumper. I think this will be my first "real" project for the car. What about the Type R rear bumper? Is it just a bolt on w/ no modifications?
