B18 overheated good by PO.
Should I Rebuild it? Or Drop a used engine in it?
The car only has 134XXX miles. This car will be my daily driver. The engine will be mated to an automatic tranny so it wont be raced or driven hard.

Opinions?

im prob gonna just redo the head and surface the block and hone it. Toss some rings and bearings in and call it a day. $580 That's prob. what id pay for a used motor in unknown condition right?

LS motors are throw away motors though. Also being that it was overheated you are running a risk of out of round cylinders and such too. It isn't just as simple as a hone. You will also still need to spec clearances and ring gaps. You will also need new head bolts, rod bolts and main bolts as they should never ever be reused especially after a overheating. Not worth the trouble. You can buy a b20 for 500 and get more torque out of it than a b18. Also the one from importers generally come with a warranty. Usually 30 days, which is plenty of time to know if its a dud or not.
