Rear Defroster illumination

i just picked up my first 99 integ and noticed the rear defroster doesn't illuminate like the hazard button. If i press it to defrost the indicator does light up. is it supposed to illuminate when i turn on my lights? or just indicate when in use?

It should have a background illumination when your parking lights are on, and there is a indicator light that will illuminate when it is pressed.

There are a couple bulbs that need to be replaced if they dont. You can pop out the button and you will see the twist-in bulb holders.

It's not the twist in one. You have to pry the little rubber rectangle with a screwdriver and a long bulb will come out. The only place to get it is from the dealership or the junkyard. There's a mid nineties Accord that has one. They're more common to find than Integras. But almost all the bulbs you find will be burned out as well. I pulled about 30 until I found a good one!!!

Haha I pulled like 10 from a local junkyard and none of them worked : ( hopefully it's nothing more than just the bulb.

very good info. i replaced similar bulbs in my friends accord in the seat warmer. i just haven't had time to pull the switch out and take a look at the bulb.
