hey guys ive seen people use the headlight restore kit by 3M or whoever makes it, but would i be able to use it on my tail lights to shine em up even if they have the red vinyl cover on the amber part?

You only use the kit on the outside. So your saying you have a red vinyl covering on something? Just cover the part you don't want to hit with painters tape. Problem solved.

Edit: I do all my stuff by hand i don't use any kits.

pleas explain, what do you mean by hand, do you just take ur hand and wipe it across your head lights....
Lol. I didn't mean im magic

Instead of wasting my time constantly buying kits i buy the supplies myself.

All you need is

2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper
painters tape
Polishing compound not a rubbing
a buffer
microfiber

Rub the 2000 grit sandpaper on the headlights wet.
After doing that for a good 5 minutes stop.
Using a buffer and some compound, compound out the marks from the sanding
Use plast x or a wax/sealant t protect

I wouldn't go over the vinyl with it, could cause it to melt/burn through when you use the stuff on it.
