some one is trying to sell me his integra with a jdm itr swap, but he doesnt know how many miles is on it. he has an itr cluster from another car. how can i tell how many miles is on it, and is it just plain simple to just not buy this car? he says its reliable and has a vin on it and everything.

Best way to get any kind of idea is to check the rubber components for aging. That includes hoses, mounts, and bushings. Second, do a Cylinder Compression test when engine is hot and see if the numbers are good. Cant do much more than that.

You can't really verify the mileage. It wouldn't do you any good anyways. I've seen motors with 200k look better then motors with 80k.

Just do the basic checks on everything. If you run a VIN search it might tell you the last reported mileage.

run a carfax. usually older vehicle have insurance claims on SOMETHING that would show up, date and milage are listed. they are fairly cheap and if you know any body at a car lot they should be able to hook you up!
