oh yeah almost forgot -- i know acuras have honda engines in them, but they are bigger engines, with more power. and the cars have many many more options. to put it plainly, an acura is a luxury car. a honda is designed to be an economy car. of course we're tweakin them both out to be performance, but that wasnt their original design. anyhoo, what im sayin is that despite the fact that they have honda engines, its still designed to be a luxury car. despite all the similarities, its still different, in a very good way.

also remember, if an american v8 car like the mustang were as "tweaked" as say an RSX-S, or a 350z, (that is to say, NA) then 1) you would get similar responses to bolt on mods (i.e. insignificant) and 2) the insurance rates would be astronomical. ever heard that it's easy to get a LOT power out of a mustang or a camaro? it is. factory could do so EASILY. it's done on purpose that way to save money for the buyer and the maker. if they wanted power, it's just a short trip to the garage and you're there. that's why so many v8s are pulling crazy numbers out street driven.

and on a different tangent, i'd never buy european... gimme an equivalent domestic any day. german cars particularly are the biggest POSs i've come across *personally* in my life. dunno about other people, so i can't speak... but i can't stand PARTICULARLY VW/audi... and, on a smaller (though not by much) scale, bmw. mercedes i don't mind so much. saab's ok. though i'd like a citroen or a peugot.

of course saab is now owned by GM, tho im unsure as to how much control they actually have over saab.

good point tho about american cars having so much potential. thats the way it is when you have a larger displacement.

believe it or not consumer reports says that european cars have more serious problems reported than domestic these days. at least, i think it was consumer reports. (i don't make BS up. i did read that somewhere. i think it was consumer reports).
There have been a number of reports complaining 'bout the reliability/longetivity of European imports. I always thought Euro cars were supposed to be the most trouble free. Kinda takes the joy out of the high price tag, huh? Nevertheless, I'd still love to have a number of European imports out there. Like the Lotus Elise, then again, it does have a Yamaha/Toyota powerplant in it's soul.
