It"s the year they made the transition from ODB1 to ODB2.
Apparently ODB2 is harder to tune.

it's the girly obd, too sensitive. it'll put your car in limp mode b/c ur gas cap isnt on the way it wants it on.

They changed the style of the side view mirrors in 96. The valve cover design on the non-GSR's changed in 96 too.
Who told you there was anything special about the 96's?
