Hey guys girlfriend has a 93 integra with an auto tranny. when she puts it into park it doesnt read it for a while... or you have to jiggle it around. im assuming that it is the actuator. what do you guys think is wrong? if im correct whats the actual name for the part?
i joined just because i've been trying to figure out the same thing. i have a 92 and sometimes i have to jiggle it, sometimes it flashes on its own after a few seconds. really frustrating where you have somewhere to be!
I have a 90 and it does the very same thing. Changed the gear selector unit and it still happens, so we know its not that.
It can be very frustrating when you want to get out of the car but cant because you cant get the keys out until it engages in park and it lights up on the dash.
I took mine in and was told it was a shift selenoid. I think it either sticks and floods or stays shut. Not sure, I don't know shit about auto trannys. I always used a spare key in the shift lock release for a temporary fix.
Its the inhibitor switch assembly Acura Part# 35700-SK7-A01 which is located under the shift lever on the passenger side. Take a look at this previous post for how to repair. About $50 for the switch. http://www.clubintegra.com/board/showthread.php?t=56619
