Hi people, So a few weeks ago i bought a 1990 integra ls automatic with 218k miles for 850$. The car runs ok, came with some stupid rims new rubber new plugs, wires, distributer cap, and battery. Seems like a pretty solid car. I have never owned an integra before. i have a few questions about the car and problems i was hopeing some members of club integra could diagnose for me.
ok The main thing i want to figure out is why the car is so slow from a dead stop. even if i floor it, it takes 8-10 seconds for the integra to get to 15 mph . then it accelerates quickly from then on. i have never driven an integra before and was just wondering if it is this model with the 1990s automatic tranny that is just slow, or is something holding my engine back,
also sometimes while already driving in traffic i preload the tranny and it down shifts and accelerates fine but when it shifts to the next gear the rpms go real low(like bogs) and i have little power to accel and its like i have to preload the tranny again and down shift to get any power. and sumtimes when i try to preload the AT it downshifts i get a short burst of the lower gear, the rpms jump for a sec then it upshifts back too quickly and the rpms drop and i have little power (like to pass another car)
on to the next one
it has only happened once sence i owned but when i tryd to start it a few days ago, it almost died just trying to idle. but i just turnd it of and started it again and the idle leveled out and the car is back to normal. from notes iv read on this site i think it is my main relay because it happened after i was speedin on the highway and the engine was verry hot.
so main relay? yes or no
ok so this last one may have something to do with all my problems..my check engine light comes on right after i take off from parked and then as i come to a stop it goes off. on and off. every time. the previous owner locked the shift lock and then he had to break it free he said. he said thats why the check engine light comes on and off. how do i check what code its giving and what other problems can this broken shift lock cause. if u have any thoughts that might help please reply.
also i want to clean the vaccum modulator valve on my tranny. can sumone link me a website with a diagram of where it is located or just explain. sorry im new to forums and integras. thanks for your time
