Problem with Skunk2 coilovers HELP!

just had the skunk 2 coil overs installed in my 2002 RSX.Picked up the car from the mechanic everything seemed fine, drove it for 20-30 miles. pulling out of my drive way the next day turning the wheel, there was a springing sound like the sping was getting caught then 'springing' back into place.

Went to the mechanic he said when i go over bumps the weight that the car is putting on the sping lifts and the plastic strut bearing is coming out of the upper mount and this is causing the noise. I have to use a two ton jack to lift the car everytime i drive it and replace these plastic strut bearing back into the upper mount for the noise to stop.

This isn't how it is suspose to work right? I've never heard of anything like this and it is driving me crazy. Any suggestions?

I took some photos .. i cant post pictures..

but it is a springing sound from just the passengers side and this is what i noticed when i took the tire off

the bump stop on the drivers side is about an inch long and one piece.

on the passangers side where the noice is coming from this bump stop is bigger than the other side about two inches total. also it is split into two pieces and they are both almost ripped with a one inch gash in the bump stops them self.

i believe they broke this piece while cutting it and just put it back on the car. and when the car is on the ground and the weight is added to the sping, this piece thatis broken is pushing the top mounts out of place.

does this sound right?

im sorry to say but they should be in one piece. It sounds like one blew. Are they the Pro S or Pro C?I have the Pro S on my Integra. Not sure how Different the RSX set up is. If youre able to take the one off you could do the counting test. If they are the Pro S that is. The Pro S im pretty sure they told me from skunk 2 to count how long it takes to rebound and if its anything under 45 seconds they are good. If your bump stop is torn into two parts it probably got smushed from the shock going too low. maybe from the shock being blown. That happened to mine sort of. Mine were kind of defective. I sent them back to skunk 2 and they sent me new ones. No problems since then

I just took a lok at the instructions and realized that the mechanic put the wrong spring assembly on the front and rear wheels. like he put the springs that are suspose to go onto the rear of the car on the front.

Could this be why I am experanceing this noise when turning the wheel? Because of the different spring ratios?

my friends skunk2's rode like garbage in his EP3 also.

I suggest you check to top of the rear struts to make sure they were tightened down all the way. You are always going to have a minor amount of clunking in the rear of our cars due to the suspension setup with the spring by itself. The spring will get loose when theres no weight on it and make a clunk when it pops into place.
