power antenna

my power antenna wont go down. i can hear the motor moving but it doesnt lower. the very bottom section moves in and out freely just not the rest. its very irritating to me that its not working how it should. any suggestions how to fix it?

The gear might be wore out in the antenna. I had that happen replaced it, then the bitch broke again. Now I'm welding the hole shut, we'll see if the antenna starts shit then.

lol sounds like youre more irritated then i am. then again id be pretty pissed if that happened to me. i havent gotten a chance to take a good look at mine though so can i easily get to the antenna from inside the trunk or is it a real pain in the ass? and i dont really wanna shave the antenna either because even though it may be a clean look i still listen to the radio every now and then. plus i cant weld and dont have the money to make it look nice with paint and all that. id rather shave everything then repaint the whole car. but now im a bit off topic. i just wanna fix the antenna. and come to think of if... is there a way i can like shorten the antenna at all? cause i think it would look way better if it only stuck up like half as much.

will it fit right in the place of the original or will it need to be modified a bit? i would assume everything is the same except the length of the actual antenna but then again ya never know.
