I just bought a 1992 Acura Integra LS. I was told by the previous owner it was a GS. The thing has been micky moused to death. Wiring is all messed up and has some minor chasis damage. Oil light stays on replaced two motor mounts already needs a third. It has a short shifter with stage 2 clutch. The cat has been hollowed out so this thing has been a nightmare. Can anyway give me some input that will give me some hope. I bouth it for 2k and it's very rough. Now I am 2500 into it and looks like at least another 2k to get it into a decent shape again if i am lucky.

Is this car worth repairing and painting make it look nice again?

Vtec? I have V-TAK! Son..
Assuming that the seller told you all the problems with your TEG, your first mistake was buying your car for 2k...How do you know it is an LS? did the seller tell you that they could have swap engines? Check the VIN#...Are restoring your teg yourself or professional?

Well LS and GS have the same motor kev. Only differences are options.. but yeah, sounds like you've passed the point of no.return man.. may as well work with what you got..

Unless you're okay with losing money and selling the car right away, you just gotta stick with it. Keep an eye out for part outs and at your local junkyards and try and find some uncut wiring harnesses for the car. Just start fixing one thing at a time, used parts will be a great option. A hollowed out cat is not bad unless you live where you need to smog the car. Don't cheap out on important parts either, some things are okay but others can be pretty risky.

I agree with Merlin aside from the cat issue(if youre looking for performance from the exhaust, if not he's right).
Also, easy way to tell GS and LS apart is ABS. If you have ABS it's a GS.

Try and get some of your money back. Sounds like you will be spending a lot more to get it back to a decent shape. Either that or if you really like the car and want to keep it, then slowly try and fix it.

Looking for my next Teg..
unless you are way into owning a DA... it will be a money pit for you what with everything you mentioned...

Most of us DA owners tend to have em cause we love em & are not opposed to spending the money to keep our cars rolling. If you are looking at it more as a cheap daily car ditch what you bought and get something reliable. You will never see more than 2-3k return for a stock DA in good condition. one that is beat can be a losing battle unless you are an enthusiast looking to bring it back...

post some pictures. so we can see if it is really that bad, junkyards usually have a ton of old DA's so getting parts shouldn't be too hard for them

The junkyard will deff be your best friend. DA's are older so you shouldn't have A hard time finding parts. As for keeping it to restore it; well that's depending on how much you really want to spend. All the cars on this site (excluding type-r's) will probably never get back the money we put in our cars and we have pretty much come to terms with that. If I was you though I'd try and trade it on Craigslist for maybe another teg with some money on top instead of putting it in the car. Good luck with it!

Where do you live? CA has the Lemon Law. So unless you signed something stating "As is" you can return the car and get money back, etc. Oh and 2k for a DA in that condition...you sir, got hustled.

Thanks guys and yes I know I got hustled for sure. I was in a hurry but I do like integra's always had honda's. I also have an 88 honda crx si that needs motor. However I am thinking maybe I should ditch the integra and fix the crx but I love the way the integra drives it's quick and handles like a dream. I will post pic's soon.

I am not a dumb ass kid that just didn't know what he was doing either. I just was victim of circumstances. When my crx motor went out I was just starting a new job needed a car fast and in a panic I took short cuts that I now regret. I know the car is not worth what I paid for it and if I fix it up I don't mind losing money cuz if I fix it up I will never sell it. I am torn because when I drive it I fall in love with it but so many things to do to it and now I am working 60 plus hours a week. So part of it is figuring out if I really have the time to tinker with it. I can do most of the work myself if I have time off. The price I was saying was if I was to do most of the work myself. I can get stock paint job for 600 if I do the prep. So if I fix it up it won't b for making the resale value go up I don't care about that. What matters is after I put the money in will it last.

Oh btw I don't know how to post pix to this thread but I did post an album up has both cars in it. Check it out tell me your honest opinion. The structure damage is the right headlight frame is bent out of shape a bit nothing a little cutting and welding can't fix and I do know a guy that can do the welding part for me. So if I can make it into a work of art like some of these cars here it would be worth while to me.
