Alright dudes im pissed off right now. I was at school and someone hit and broke my side view mirror on my MR2. Im just glad that they barely clipped it so the actual mirror isnt cracked, its jut the housing. I took it off and used hot glue and stuk it back on but it came off again in like a week. I need a new one but Toyotas asking 90$ Ebay got them for like 40$ but ill have to paint them, so Im thinking about getting one from a junkyard if ima need to paint it. I wanted to know how to do it? I know im gonna have to wetsand the existing paint but then? Do I just go and paint or will I need to primer it first?or anything else

well to do it right you wanna take the mirror out of the housing then wet sand alot and change grade if you have to get rid of bumps and scratches. after that primer first, then paint, then clearcoat. let sit and dry, and bam . . . .brand new mirror. try and do both mirrors if you can so that it doesnt look funny, one mirror newer than the other

alright so I sand, primer, paint, clearcoat? Does it matter which color primer I use or no? and does clear coat come in different colors? like is it just straight up clear or is it a very transparent colored layer?

it doesnt cost too much to have the body shop paint it maybe $50 or something like that.

Clear Coat Is Exactly What It Sounds Like, A Clear Coat Of Paint To Protect You Finish Coat. And As Far As Primer Color, It Doesnt Really Matter, But Try And Get A Gray Or Flat Black Color. Since Youre Painting Red.
