Painting my Hood

Hey everyone here is a brief update on my teg's hood. As some of you know I got my first teggy last month. But the hood was kinda of effed up. The paint was all peeling and chipping and all. So i decided to work on it my self. Here are the pictures of what I have been doing on it.

This is how it looked when I got her:



So i started off by stripping the paint in the areas where it was affect most until there was bare metal.



Sanding the sides till everything is nice and smooth



Time to add some bondo, this was the hardest part of the whole project IMO. There always seemed to little holes which were a pain in the ass to fill. Took me a week to finally get it right

In the process car looked very ugly for a few days. Should have removed the hood. That would have eased up the process. Specially when wet sanding :(







Car is now ready to primered:



Started to rattle can with light coats











Garage alll fogged up hehe



Finally Done:

Sorry if I posted alot of pics but I just wanted to show the entire steps it took me. Costed me around 25$, now I am wondering if I should paint the hood Flat black or should I try to go oem. It kinda costs more for oem and I was thinking it might look bad since the hood would be all shiny and new. Let me know what you guys think.

I wouldn't go flat black. It's always looked really ghetto to me. Then again, rattle cans always look ghetto to me.

Carbon fiber is a cost effective, weight reducing, good alternative to painting an OEM hood. And you always have a spare

I would not go flat black. I hate seeing cars around here with one piece painted flat black (permanently), it looks way too ghetto for my liking (like you are too cheap to care about your car). If you are tight on money, leave it; otherwise, finish the job right.

Nice progress thread by the way. It looks good so far!

Hahah, sorry if my opinion offended you. I've never seen a good rattle can job on something that big. It's hard to get even layers. I never said the hood looked bad how it is now, i'm just saying a rattle can on the finish coat might come out bad.

Edit:
Neg repped the nub. Positive repped the OP.

Good job on the hood thus far. Body work usually scares off a lot of people!

Thanks for the rep. Yea I did hear horror stories about painting and body work. But the hood looked really ugly and I just could not stand doing nothing. Its good to get some feedback , thats what I was looking for and I am definitely going to do a oem paint. Got a quote from a body shop for 150$+ materials i guess. I was also planning to put a chrome tip on the exhaust, did the stock ones come with those? Took her to a exhaust shop today, the exhaust kind of rattles at 3500.
