I've only done body and prep work on my car. I'm pretty sure I'm sending it in to get painted. You better make sure you have tons of patience.

I just did my sister's integra a couple weeks ago. She damaged the fender, got a replacement fender from another totalled integra. Stripped the paint, lots of sanding down the rust/ washing with dishwash detergent.

I totalled about 3 coats of primer. 4 coats of base paint. and then 4 layers of gloss. I can take some pics when i get home later.

Oh yea, I used can paint too, came out a bit better than I expected.

EDIT:
I took about 1.5 days to do it. The clearcoat needed to dry over night

After stripping the paint..

- used 220 to take off any remaining paint
-smoothed over with 400, then washed the entire piece in dish soap
-primered 3 coats, sanded with 400 then wetsanded 600, gave it another wash
- base coat, wetsanded several areas with 1000/1500 depending on the roughness (i dont think sanding at this point is necessary, and it kinda messes up the paint.)
-gloss, then polish with rubbing compound.

I ordered my paint from: http://www.automotivetouchup.com/spray_paint.asp
Used 1 can primer, 1 can base, 1 can gloss. Also got the little trigger assembly. Makes the painting a hell of a lot easier+ smoother.

I will do pictures tomorrow morning. kinda dark now.
