wow if you're serious and dedicated... its gonna cost you lots of money plus time to learn how to paint. i have most of the components in my garage but its more of my pops expertise.

-1 strong compressor that will provide a constant pressure that doesn't drop.
-2 paint guns - one for painting, and one for primering - makes things a lot easier instead of cleaning and switching back and forth.
-reducer, hardner, paint thinner, etc... along with the paint + clear itself
-well ventilated area... cause you can get fined if your neighbors call the city.

thats on top of my head, i use to work for an autobody with my pops but its more advanced for skilled folks. takes lots of years and experience to master. i can't really go too much into detail, but its as much as i know. as far as brands go... i've heard lots of goods and bads from k-mart brands... and of course the major brands are good but uber pricey. i'll try and check what brands my pops carries.

well i figured that since i am going to be around cars(not just tegs but maybe supercars later in life) i should invest in some skills with the teg. almost use it like a test car so say for example when i am painting my 98 rx-7 i don't miss up. plus, a little investment of time and money now, will save tons of money later.

so i guess not alot of people are doing their own paint jobs?

are you going to be doing your own paint DailyDrivenDB8?

i am also in the beginning stages of painting. I practiced spraying a few months ago on a fiberglass z3 fender that i bought and decided i didnt want. my first complete job was on the hood of my 93 civic hatchback. it turned out ok for my first job, but i sprayed in the cold and got ALOT of orange peel. I'm going to be painting my oem integra fender and lip kit this week in better weather conditions. I'll let you know how it turns out.

i'm half and half on it. painting it is no problem... just finding a booth to paint it is the hard part. but that all depends if i'm color matching or repainting the whole car a different color.

and btw, my front end is primered grey... it sorta looks color matched but its better than rolling around wit ha mis matched front end
