Overheating!

help my da9 is overheating lately. when the car run, the gauge drops but when the car comes to a stop the gauge goes all the way to the red zone. What can be the problem?
My car was handed down to me not so long ago from my older brother.
ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED

my fan doesnt work unless its overheating..
i want it on all the time but just dont know
where to start

theve posted forums bout making them run full time,look up overheating,,my car is overheating too,test out your thermosat,

Cooling fan wired to be on permanently ( 1 2)
thats the thread,dnt know how to link it.

Could be any of these
1. thermostat is stuck closed
2. Radiator is leaking
3. radiator hose went bad upper or lower hose
4. There is a hose in the back of motor (valve cover) near the Intake manifold that allot of people skip over seeing.

Could be any of these

you can wire your fan to a toggle switch to turn it on when you want to, thats what i did
