i have a 1992 integra ls and i just went for a drive after installing a cold air intake and it seems like the motor is hotter than ussual. the temp gauge says its fine, but i popped the hood and the valve cover was alot hotter than i'm used to and its not hot outside today its 12 celcius. is it normal for a b18a1 to run hot?
any help would be great.

metal conducts more heat than plastic fyi.

It could be excess heat from the CAI because the OEM intake is plastic it doesnt resonate heat as much as metal

the cold air intake pipe is nice and cool though i can't see how it would be sending hot air into the intake manifold.

also if your temp gauge doesnt work properly you may be over heating. my old temp gauge never went above half and it still over heated.

what?

your CAI is collecting cold air which is being sent to the intake manifold to be mixed with fuel to be combusted. The heat from the motor is being absorbed by metal. Your car is fine if its at the normal temp reading. Its probably difference in combustion from stock to the af mixture with colder air

its not at half its about half a cm to 3/4 cm below half. unless my temp gauge is not getting the proper reading some how.
