decided to start the new years fresh and strong by upgrading the performance of the car instead of the exterior. i had a couple of parts lying around the house and decided to install them before they started getting infested with spider webs.
my DC 4-1 ceramic headers were UBER fucked up so i replaced it with DC 4-1 stainless steel headers. i didn't really want another 4-1 because of clearance problems but a friend was letting it go for a killer deal and anything was better than the ceramic ones i had.
this is the reason why:
BEFORE
AFTER
pipping were caved in pretty bad, little airflow was going through them. ceramic is pretty soft so it bends/dents/cracks pretty easy, the stainless steel ones are a lot stronger and it looks cleaner too.
another piece i had lying around was this RS*R axleback, and as you know it, it was a killer deal and i couldn't pass it up... lol. but this piece i really liked cause its not huge lookin, its quiet and not too loud, and its a bolt on. plus its way better than the tiny ass stock muffler
at first it was a bitch trying to lossen the exhaust bolts but after jacking up the car a bit more and using a breaker bar it finally got loose.
one problem i came across was that the axleback was actually for a 2dr and it might of played a big part of why it wasn't easy to install. the bolts were too short and wouldn't bolt into the flanges, so i had to decide weather to use a reg bolt w/o using the spring or go search around for a longer exhaust bolt around san diego. i took the easy way and used a reg bolt w/o the spring.
after doing all these upgrades i thought i'd give it a change and use some full synthetic oil
took it for a run and the acceleration was a lot faster and smoother. along with the lil humm from the axleback it felt like the 4dr was getting somewhere. next things on the list now is to rebuild the motor
