Hey guy's I ordered a short throw shifter yesterday and hopefully tomorrow I'll be ordering my 4-2-1 headers. How hard is it to change a shifter out of a LS tranny?

honestly its a pain in the nuts.most people will tell you that youll need to unbolt the exhaust just to gain access to the two bolts that hold the shifter up, but really you dont.but since your doing your header anyways while you have that off that would give you more flex in the pipe to move it out of your way.any ways, remove shift knob up top, remove two bolts directly under shifter assembly, remove the one bolt holding linkage to the tranny (the stabilizer bar) then theres a roll pin on the other bar, the one that goes to the tranny.that where its a pain.

Just use a flex joint, I have never had to move the exhaust ever.. I have done a ton of short shifters for friends and such.. While your down there replace the rubber bushings it takes 10 to 20 min to do and you will feel a diffrence in how it shifts and they are only like 11 to 20 bucks on ebay
