oil return line not returning!

so took my turbo off the car the other day and noticed oil build up around the drain side of the turbo. I took apart the compressor housing and noticed oil inside. my oil return bung is welded the highest you can physically weld it on the oil pan, but its not dumping the oil its just backing up in the turbo, so im trying to figure out other ways to reroute the oil back, i've talked to a coulpe people who've told me to run a catch can and dump it back into the valve cover, but i've never dealt with a catch can and dont know much about them. It just seems to me that gravity is a factor, instead of letting it just fall into the oil pan its trying to push it back up to the valve cover. anybody have experience with catch cans or any other ideas to running my return line?

the oil return line needs to be installed higher the the oil level in your oil pan during operation.

The return line is gravity feed so i don't know how exactly you would route it to the valve cover is your drain from the turbo sits lower.

i can't weld it any higher on the oil pan though if it goes any higher i can't get the welder on the top of the bung.

its not necessarily gravity fed, the pressure of the oil feed line should push it out, especially if its backing up.
might be clogged, my drain line is half way up the pan and it drains fine

it aint clogged cause the car was jacked up when i pulled the turbo off lowered the oil line down and oil started pouring out...i put about .3 quarts more than required when i oil change to compensate for the turbo and lines, but i doubt that little bit of oil more would affect it from properly draining. anyone have any other suggestions on how they're running there return setup...its just a simple return line to a bung welded on the sump side of the pan as high as you can physically weld it. ill try to get some pics of the oil caking on the turbo tomorrow to show ya'll what im talking about.

Is the return bung off of the turbo letting oil through? if that's the case you can always bore it out a bit..
Or you could just get bigger bungs on both ends. There is only so much that can stop oil between your turbo and oil pan.
