So i finaly figured out how i want to spend my tax money and figured out what direction i want to take my car. Im going to boost and i want a little stronger bottom end so i can boost more then 6-8lbs. I know for sure im getting cp pistons but was wondering what are the stock rods rated for? im looking for around 215 hp will they be able to handle that without issues? also what would someone who has boosted there teg suggest for tuning? i was thinking of going with crome? what about hondata? btw this is a b18a1 in a 92 LS.any help would be appreciated.

they should be able to do 250hp @ the crank (215-220hp @ the wheels) with ARP Rod bolts. But, you can also have them shot peened which will add to the strength.

But, truthfully bye the time you buy bolts, have the rods reconditioned & shot peened your half way to a set of Eagle's. Is piece of mind worth $150.00?

ls rods can handle ALOT more than people give them credit for, my friend made 400whp on some for a year or so

@badfish yeah i was thinking that...they arent much more expensive what would you suggest brand wise? im tryna keep engine work around or less than 1,200. then the rest would go into building a turbo kit and such

Go with Eagle connecting rods cheap and reliable!

I don't know how well your set on the cp pistons... but for budget sakes. I would go with Wiseco/Eagle piston rod package for $679 from http://www.importperformanceparts.net. The pistons aren't as good as CP's but, you won't have to worry about rods. Plus the Wiseco pistons are more than strong enough to hold up a decent turbo setup.

Eagle rods, supertech pistons work too... I personaly like Aries pistons, and eagle rods but that can get alittle exspensive, specially for custom made pistons. What are you going to run for tunning? I always like S300 from Hondata but again thats a big chunk of change.

But for your Hp rating I would just run stock rods and pistons... Like said before I personnaly have seen a few hold 400, but for 215 I would just get the ARP's and save money for a GOOD tune on a dyno. Maybe a wideband (prologger) is the best one I have seen hold up for a good amount of time
