I recently changed my 02 Sensor to my 91 acura integra, i took a trip to the shop suddenly on the way back noticed my radio turning on and off for a little while, as well as the engine slowed down in switching gears it got worse and now doesnt even start, the dashboard lights are on but theres no rev no kind of sound,

im not sure if the 02 sensor did anything but besides that we didnt do anything else to the car, its been working perfectly fine before this so idk

any suggestion on the reason it wont start?

it started an hour later perfectly, then it started dieing out till no more sound, but the lights and everything still work

Pull your dizzy off and see if you can spin it. Something is binding or the alt went and the battery just had enough after cooling off from earlier that it bumped over

does sound like alternator, had it happen more than once. battery light comes on and lights dim and then car shuts off. easiest way to tell if you are not sure. get a known good battery and the car should start and run like a champ. take the positive terminal off the battery and if the car shuts right off then the alternator is bad. if it is good it would run off the alternator

There has been some talk about disconnecting the positive battery terminal recently and from what I've heard, it's not a good way to test this. I had the positive battery terminal come loose and slip off in my 2000 LS with a good alternator while driving and I lost all power instantly. This test can also cause the ECU or other sensors and wiring to get damaged. In theory this test will work and it does on older carbureted cars, but most EFI systems require the battery to run.

Take your car to an auto parts store to have the alternator tested. This is usually free.

it's the alternator... your battery is developing a surface charge just from sitting... until the car runs.. then the alternator is not charging the battery so the car kills the battery... Jump start the car then pull the negative battery cable and see it it stays on. If not buy a new alternator with a lifetime warranty and be done with it... ;)

Again do not take the cable off of your car. You do risk doing damage. Go get it tested. It is free. If you do not make a complete connection on an efi system your car will shut down. Can it run for a min with it off. Sure. Seen it but when you test it they are bad or good. Do the smart thing and take it to an auto store. If you pull that cable and short the system and blow your ecu you costing your self a 150 ecu then another 100 for the alternator pluss aggravation

Thanks for the feedback

We had to move the car yesterday because of parking but it didnt want to move so i gotta jump from my friends car and it was working fine except one speaker(subwoofer) wasnt on but was working fine until we removed the jumps. then the radio turned on and off, blew out white/light grey emissions and then finally turned back off but we did have enough to drive and park

would this just mean i need a battery or could it really be the alternator?

I'd say the alternator is toast... If the car starts on a jump it should stay on because the alternator should be supplying the power... the fact it's not staying on when unhooking the cables tells me the alternator is not doing it's job.
