Hey guys so i found a 4 door 1st gen for 275 on craigslist looks clean but low compression on the engine this may be a stupid question but i have an 5th gen civic motor sitting out back can i just throw it in so i can rebuild the teggy motor? or is the tranny going to be different.would i have to do a ecu swap or wiring swap? civic trans is an auto and teggy is 5 speed and i want the 5 speed i have a 3 gen teggy for a dd so i dont need the car running but it would be nice thanks for you input

I'm not up to par on my 1st gen knowledge, but I know the 1st gens came with D16's in them. Theoretically you could swap the civic D series into it if it's a teg that supports the D16 but you'll have to swap everything because you're going from obd0 to obd1.

The thing I'm wondering about is the shift linkage and clearance of the front suspension (for exhaust and such).

EDIT: I just looked on www.g1teg.org and the D16A1 is a DOHC. My bad  Your D15/16 could probably still fit though. search around on that site for yourself and see I guess.

I wonder if the mounts are different. Also you can probably keep the 5-speed already in the car, but you're going to need a flywheel for the Civic D and find a clutch and pressure plate that will bolt up.

^Lots of guys swap B16's into them so you shouldn't have a problem with that. Good luck man and stay on CI! We need some good 1st gens around here.
