Hello Everyone!
Im new to Integras, and I recently purchased a 1998 Acura Integra LS for $600 with 118k miles on the odometer. Interior is very good condition and the exterior is decent, only light surface rust (mind you I live in New England). All major suspension components and bushings/ bearings have been replaced by the previous owner over the last 2 years and it definitly looks newer, lol. She came with a whole bunch of goodies, Skunk2 Catback exhaust, HID's, AEM CAI, Type R Spoiler. That I sold to my father + my 98' bumpers (he has a 94 coupe) for $600 and swapped on all his old parts. So I now have a complete car that I figuritivly got for free
The only downside to this car, to me, is that its an automatic. I can deal with it however, for the time being. The expirence I can gain from having this car is worth it.
I did, however, buy her knowing that the timing belt slipped. I managed to buy a complete obd2 Ls swap with a brand new complete gasket kit, timing belt, waterpump, etc for $300. I took what I needed and resold whatever I didnt need for $300. I have $0 into this project so far and its turning out great
I would LOVE to thank prozon for his "How to change your B18 headgasket" How-to, that I applied to replacing a head. And in the long run saved a very good Integra from being another partout victim. Also his support towards this forum got me interested in joining. And here I am, Thanks Prozon and many others for your informative How-to threads k:
Currently all that is left to do to get my car running is to retighten the tensioner and hook everything back up so I can see if she runs.I'm very excited since I have done everything myself in the past few days (I got the car on october 1st)and with no money tied up I have a sense of pride in this car already
I have a pretty extensive background to Honda/ Acuras considering my age (16)
I've had more than a few 5th generation Hatchback Civics. 6 to be exact+ a 1992 Honda Prelude S that introduced me to working on cars. In the past 7 months that I've had my license I've had 8 cars counting my newly aqquired Integra( I've had 1 DD so far, the others were all projects that I resold into roadworthy condition) I have no idea if it is good or bad, all I know is I enjoy buying cars, driving them, fixing them and resell them. I've made quite a few bucks doing what I enjoy, so why not?
Thank you all,
-Jeff
