Hey guys I'm new to these forums. I'll b picking up a '97 Integra GSR in about a month and I got about 3 grand to spend on parts. I want this to be a monster in all areas but I want it to be an all motor car. I was thinking to start put in cat-back exhaust, cold air intake, 4-2-1 headers, underdrive pulleys, stainless steel brake lines, cross drilled rotors, compound brake pads, shocks and struts, and a short shifter. I can get this all for like $2700. Anything else you would suggest i get or take off the list?

What do you plan on doin with your car? Drag? Auto-X? or just a street car that you will not do any racing with? Once you know what you want to do with it then you can get an accurate picture with what you should do to your car. I suggest taking off the Cross Drilled rotors, they dont do anything at all. I suggest getting a 4-1 header instead of the 4-2-1 header cause you will feel a bigger gain with the 4-1 since you have a high rev engine and that is where your power band is located. these are just suggestions. Idk about the under drive pullys, idk if they will do much for your car.

Get a P&P that should give you a decent gain with your other bolt ons. or get a honda data ecu, to also maximize your added parts.

Thanks for the advice Baldy201. What is a P&P though? (I'm kinda new at this) and how much would a hondata ecu go for?

A P&P is a port and polish. A hondata ecu i have seen go for like 200 or so. it depends on what level ecu you buy. you really dont need an ecu upgrade untill you do some engine work. Another thing i suggest is doing your suspention. It makes your car so much more fun to drive around town and around the track. Just let me know what you which route you want to take. I also research parts and how they affect your engine or car. You want to build and "engine package". parts that work together instead of just slapping on parts that give you "XX HP".

I want your advice baldy....what is the best package I can put together (not including a turbo) that has brakes, suspension, and an "engine package" as you put it

Ok, Doing a good engine package will cost a good chunck of change. Suspension may be a little cheaper, as for brakes I would not do them right away. What would you like to do first? Engine I would do Short ram intake, 4-1 header, cams, cam gears, VAFC, and that is a good start for an engine package. For suspension, springs, shocks, rear sway bar, and rear lower strut bar. that will be about 1500 or so maybe even less. brakes if you really want to get in to road racing, then go with upgraded calipers, bigger rotors, upgrade pads, and stainless steel lines. I suggest that you research your own parts so you can be educated in what you buy. any questions about what parts are good or questions about what you have found.

Ok baldy I've been doing some researching and I found some quality parts. The only things I really couldn't afford at this point were the brake rotors and calipers.

AEM Short Ram Air Intake- $99
Skunk2 Racing Camshafts- $719
Skunk2 Racing Adjustable Cam Gears- $229
DC Sports 4-1 Ceramic Coated Header System- $269
Apexi Super VTEC AFC-2- $339
Tokico HP Struts / Eibach Sportsline Springs Combo Package- $429
Comptech Rear Sway Bar with Lower Tie Bar- $369
Skunk2 Rear Lower Strut Bar- $114
Axxis Metal-Master Performance Brake Pads (2 rear, 2 front)- $140
Goodridge Stainless Steel Braided Brake Lines - $139

Total- $2846

One question though why not include an exhaust system? Besides that I think this is all I can afford for now.

Bluelightning: it all depends on your engine package. Cold air is better for low to mid range power, and short ram is good for upper range power.

GSR97teg: I kinda for got that, yea get an exhaust system. That is a good start. What stage camshafts are you going to get? also if you get stage 2 or 3 they suggest getting upgraded valve springs, so that is another expence to add. Also from your list it looks like you have 2 rear lower tie bars. From your list it says "Comptech rear sway bar with lower tie bar" then the next line says "skunk2 rear lower tie bar". you might want to check if the comptech comes with a lower tie bar. but i would suggest getting an exhaust before doing your brakes. good job.
