New Guy with a broke down car. :(

Hello! My names Jake, Ive had my Integra for a couple of years now. I've done some minor and major work in it to keep it up, but now I'm at a total loss. For a while now, I would be driving down the road and my car would randomly die. Tach would go to 0 if I pushed my clutch and if I didn't I could listen as my car's rpm's quickly went down to nothing. I'd then start cranking it, and sometimes it would just come right back to life, other times it'd take many tries. Sometimes it'd take so many tried my battery would nearly die and I'd have to get a jump before I could even get it to start. It would do this multiple times on my way to work (about 15 miles) some days, and others I could go a full week without a single death. I asked numerous mechanics their thoughts on my predicament and the general consensus was my distributor was dying on me. I trusted their advice and bought a new one, new cap, and new plug wires. same problem. I need a reliable car, and this is way beyond me. Please help

It sounds like the coil is going bad.......................never really heard of one being so intermittent

could be a loose wire on the coil, also sounds like it could be a loose wire issue like a bad ground something to that effect

He replaced the distributor.

Is the enviornment consistent? Wet day? More often in the morning/cold? Any patterns at all?

Thanks for replying so quickly, mates! Weather has not been a major factor as far as I could tell, and I did make sure to take heed to see. Wiring seems to be the only thing I can think to try. The fuel pump is not very old, and because of cranking on it and cranking on it when it would die, i could smell the gas, because it was flooding. plus i can hear it come on. So fuel pump works. Also, what about the main relay? could it cause such an issue?
