So I just installed new speakers all around in my sedan. Rears work great but the front two seems to be lower than the stocks. Is there something wring with the wiring or do I just need an amp?

Did that too. That's how I knew my stocks were sounding louder. Installed one side and switched from one speaker to the other to see how they sound.

What model speakers did you buy? It's possible you bought speakers with a higher resistance than the stock ones...which could cause them to be quiet (while also putting more stress on your radio)

As long as they're the proper resistance, aftermarket speakers should still be just as loud as the stock ones...and be able to get louder without distortion. I've got 4 Infinity 6.5" 2-ways all around in my 2D and they're just as loud as the stock ones...with the same radio.

They're Pioneer 4 way 4ohms 250 watts peak. I have an aftermarket HU, Alpine. Owner already had it in the car when I bought it.

Btw, pioneer speakers are not that great. They are probably no better than factory. I had pioneer speakers in my car when I got it and they were horrible. Now I have polks and they sound great.

No it doesn't : / yeah I might change it. I got another set of Kenwood I think I'm going to try out. Just got me really confused after installing driver side I adjustment all sound to just that speaker and than switched to the passenger stock side and it was way louder. Weird.

Pioneers are pretty much the same quality as boss and all that other junk. The kenwoods would probably be better. It also sounds like your hu is kinda old. Maybe upgrade that? Pioneer hu's are amazing. Thats about the only good thing they make.

Your HU is too weak for the speakers your trying to install most aftermarket stereos have a rating of about 50w, if your trying to install 250w speakers your going to need a 4ch amp rated for those speakers.
