hi just joined the forum and was needing some advice.
i am currently 15 and it is about to be my birthday in 2 weeks. the day of my birthday is when i plan to get my licence. i own a 1992 subaru svx currently. it is a great car very unique and quite powerful with the slight modifications (magnaflow 3 inch exhaust, tommyx intake, under drive pulley, ecu tune stage 2, 370cc nismo injectors, z32 maf, 4.44 transmission with a qc shift kit and power mode mod). i got this car when i was 12 and got to work on it since then. i have always been into car, growing up around mechanics and modified cars. unfortunately my dad is making me sell the car as he hates the living s*** out of it. why? well i honestly dont know, he just says its rare and parts are to hard to find and its to complex to work with. and anyways i pretty much have to listen to him as he does pay for the insurance. so long story shot i have to get a new car and i honestly just dont know what to get. i have a limited budget and need something thats "reliable" so it will suite my dads specifications. i thought the integra would be a great choice for me but i am unaware of somthings. does it cost alot to make them decently fast? i know the b18c is a very notorious engine but i dont have money for a type r lol. while forced induction is a possibility, is it even woth it? just need some tips from u guys as the owners of them. oh and dont worry i am not some dumb little kid whos going to slap on a body kit and think im the s*** lol. but anyway thanks for reading and some feedback/ tips would be great.

First off you are lucky to have started learning so early and be in the environment. I assume your dad is supportive of your enthusiasm with cars just wants you to find something easier to work on and access parts?

When it comes to power increase on cars it boils down to the almighty dollar. Real power costs money whether it be in the form of an already fast vehicle from the factory or a cheap car you build up. Its always said that forced induction is the best bang for your buck and it is but it is by no means cheap. The range of cost is great because theres tons of ways to build a turbo engine. Give us a better idea of what specifics your dad gave you and maybe we can help you decide if some kind of integra (or honda) will fit the bill. Reliable cars can come in any form, its about the condition it is currently in and how you take care of it from there on. Theres a lot more to elaborate on like what your dad will allow you to do to the car and what you plan to do with it.

What do you wanna do? My girlfriend, the green Integra on the banner, tracks an ls and does damn well, but we race circuit. Circuit racing is about suspension, drag racing is about power. I do both, but with the same car. My car is setup towards circuit racing, my car being the black Integra on the banner. Lol. Either way, run your car stock and get at that, then bump power and aero

Pics of the SVX or gtfo! Also where are you and how much you want for it?

I understand that money is they key to everything but theres ways to make reliable safe power thats not super costly, for example a turbocharger. i dont need to spend like 2 grand on a gt35 turbo, my dads best friend is a mercedes mechanic and he has a bunch of spare diesel turbos custom bovs, and boost controllers laying around that he'd be willing to give to me for free. the only main money i would have to spend on is fuel tunning. my dad doesnt care if i add forced induction or anything he just wanted me to get a simpler car i guess. and for the racing part i will most likely see where that takes me but most likely i will find myself doing alot of track circuits or some highway pulls lol, but mainly just a daily driver that will have a fair amount of power. and for the svx here u go ;)
i am located in surrey bc looking for abut 6000 for it

I see. Well to answer the question based on provided information, yes the integra is among the choices for cars that have high parts availability, can be very reliable (see previous post), and potential is limited by your ability to spend money on it. Have at it!

Welcome to CI.
Looks like you're leaning towards power since you do have the resources.
However, if you do have second thoughts, you should definitely consider circuit racing.

:thumbs up

Never too early to familiarize yourself with a potential purchase. Browse through the build sections thread. Some people have their builds linked in their signatures. Lots of good examples.

I have nothing to contribute to this thread, as pretty much everything has been covered. I just really wanted to say that the SVX is a sweet car! lol I'd give my left, and possibly right testicle depending on condition, to have one.

No fucks given.

Could always trade your R for one of them

But like drevans, I couldn't really contribute anything either. I just wanna see the SVX, maybe a link since the pic didn't work? I've always wanted one, even if they are all automatics.
