Hey guys, I need some advice. I stumbled across a 1996 Acura Integra LS priced at $2900. The car has roughly 173k miles on it. So, the mileage is about where it should be for this vehicle. The body is in great condition, but I'm still kind of hesitant because of the mileage. I was told I could rebuild the engine pretty cheap, but what do you guys think? Good buy?

Integra FTW!
I payed $2000 for my 94 Integra which had 150,xxx miles on it. But the body wasn't so good. The rear wheel wells were rusted out pretty bad. But other than that, I think I made a bargain. You should offer who ever is selling the teg like 2400 and see if they take it. Mine was priced at $2600 but I haggled it down.

I payed $1,200 for my 1996 LS with 140,xxx Miles.Mine needed some minor work on the inside . But body needs a lot more. Another thing is Hondas last a long time if you take care of them ( change oil, get serrviced regularly) And if anything you can find motors and everything else cheap. .so it isn't too bad.

Sounds like a really good deal. Just make sure timing belt was done, or if not have it done when you get it.

don't let the miles fool u man, Honda/Acura cars goes a long way, but thats not a bad deal. Ask him about the maintence on the car and make sure you double check it too, ppl tend to make up stuff about maintence. If everythinig checks fine then go for it, if not then ask him to lower the price.

cars can go for miles and miles expecially hondas you just need to make sure they had all the necessary changes done in good amount of time.

I'd get it and then immediately do general maintenance unless there's receipts and records of it.

I wouldn't just look at the miles of car and let that decide. As a matter of fact, I never even look at that when I went to buy my two integras. What you need to remember is that Honda engines are possibly the easiest engines to work with because of all the options and parts that you can interchange between different models. Saying that, it WILL be very easy for you to rebuild the engine if need be, and at a low price.

The things I mainly look at when buying a car (honda/acura mostly) is if it has any leaks coz that can sometimes be a big pain in the a$$ to fix and sometimes costly if your only option is to change the block, so look for that. Then ask for maintenance reciepts, ask for any unusual noises like clattering in the engine bay, and most importantly ask about the history of the car, like accidents and such. If all that is to your liking then get it because that is a good price, and if theres something wrong with it later on, just fix it yourself.

I saw a good quote from a member in TI, "A good import isn't bought, it is buit."

i got my 96 LS with 150,xxx for $2900, engine bay was clean as a baby's behind. interior is clean except for some gouges to the glove box and rear passenger side door panel. only real trouble was the scratches like it had been keyed and some spots here and there.

so i would say u gettin a good deal.

dont worry about the milage. i just bought a del sol with over 200k on it, im the 2nd owner and only thing that i have replaced was the water pump. as long as the timing belt was done then you should be good.
