Need some quick help with a fuel pump

Just replaced my gas tank and fuel filter. Put about 5 gallons of gas into the brand new tank. Turned the key to "On" and the fuel pump whined like crazy. It starts high pitched then goes lower. After the fuel pump stops, it sounds like pressurized air is released from somewhere. Like the sound when you take the gas cap off of a honda on a hot day after driving. Car keeps cranking with no fire. When I shake the car and listen to the tank it sounds like there is nothing in the tank (only a small amount of splashing happens).

I can post a video of the noise from the fuel pump if necessary. I'm stuck at a friends house and I have work tomorrow! HELP!!:shock::shock:

Also, fuel pressure gauge reads only 15-20psi.

UPDATE: Fuel is getting to the fuel filter. I took off the "in" bolt and fuel squirts out when fuel pump turns on. I then took off the bolt going to the engine and did the same thing with the same result. I feel like the fuel pump either isn't getting enough fuel or not sending enough fuel. I turned the fuel pump on and off about 15 times and the fuel pressure only gets up to about 7psi...

Well if fuel is making it all the way to the rail, maybe its that you dont have any spark?

No, i think the fuel pump isn't making enough pressure. The little bag that clips on to the side of the pump was kind of underneath the pump and I had the line from the top of the pump to the top of the tank off and it had a little crack in it. I replaced the line with a split in it and moved the bag out of the way... I'm putting the tank back up now. I'll keep you posted.

if your getting low pressure- you pump is taking a shit-

that usually happens when there going bad,- i could be wrong but mine had low pressure last month ( and the gas gauge was screwing up ) and i said screw it, bought a new one and its been running fine since
